Documentation > The ToolbarAlong the top of every LL4S page is the toolbar which has links to all the different parts of your account. If you get lost you can use these links to get back home. And there is also a Home button under the search field. Currently the items on the toolbar are:
This link takes you to a page that allows you to see the most recent activity on LL4S. As well as being able to see all new activity there are searches on the page to allow you to restrict the new activity to, for example, activity by a particular user or to within a particular community.
This will probably be the button you use most as it links to your own blog. Wherever you are in the LL4S system you can go directly to your blog by clicking here.
Use this save bookmarks - these may be links to other areas in LL4S that you want to be able to get back to easily or external sites. You can save any URL here.
This is you online storage space. You have 20Mb for your files which can be of any type. You can organize the files into folders and there are special folders types for photographs (to make into a gallery) and one for multimedia. The multimedia folder creates a playlist from the files in it. Files placed here can easily be added to Your Blog.
Use this button to go to your personal wiki pages.
Your Network
The link takes you to a page which will list all your connections within LL4S. Here you can see and go to all the communities you are a member of and that you have created (Owned Communities). If you have made yourself a friend of other members of LL4S then the Friends link will them and allow you to go directly to their home page. The Friend of link will list the users who have made you their friend.
Your Resources
This section contains an RSS feed reader. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a protocol for pulling content from sites into your own account so that you do not have to revisit each site to see new material. RSS is a central component of LL4S. Many elements of the accounts are available via RSS feeds: for example there is an RSS feed for your blog, for new files, for additions to your wiki pages, etc. This means that you can subscribe to other users' blogs and then, rather than visit their site to see if they have posted new items which interest you, pull their new content into your own account.
In addition, and in may ways even more importantly, you can subscribe to any external RSS feed. For example the BBC have many RSS feeds for particular areas. Just look for the orange RSS feed icon on any web-site, grab the URL and add it to your resources.
Create new presentations and list the ones you have already created.
Your Profile
This is where you can change information about your account: including your password. There are lots of fields in your profile. Some of the information you may provide is personal so please make sure you read the e-safety information on this site carefully and do not provide more information than necessary. NOTE: LL4S runs a script which restricts most information in your profile to be available only to other LL4S members - even if you set it to be public. But your Who am I? and Brief description can be public so be careful what you include in them.
In addition this is where you log off and access your Account settings to, for example, change your password.
